Privacy

Your details, and what happens to them.

Effective 11 October 2026.

Jasinna Ashcombe is the pen name of an independent author based in Australia. This page covers this website, the newsletter, the advance reader team and email. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Newsletter: your email address, and the record that you ticked the consent box. Nothing else is asked for.
  • Advance reader team: you join through Booksprout, under Booksprout’s own privacy policy. We see what Booksprout shares with authors, such as your reader name and the reviews you link.
  • Email: if you write to us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
  • Social media: comments and messages you send on Instagram or TikTok, which those platforms hold.
  • This website: no sign-up and no forms. Cloudflare counts page visits without cookies and without identifying you.

We never get the names or details of people who buy the books. Amazon keeps those and does not share them with authors.

What we use it for

  • Sending the newsletter you asked for: new releases and free bonus scenes.
  • Running advance copies and answering your messages.

We do not sell, rent or swap your details, and we never add you to a list you did not ask to join. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and one click takes you off.

Who else handles it

These services hold your details for us. Some are outside Australia, so your details may be stored overseas:

  • EmailOctopus (United Kingdom): the newsletter list and emails.
  • Google (United States): our email inbox, and the reCAPTCHA spam check on the sign-up form.
  • Booksprout: the advance reader team.
  • Cloudflare (United States): hosts this website.

We would only give your details to anyone else if the law required it.

How long we keep it

Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. EmailOctopus keeps a record that you unsubscribed, so you are never emailed again by mistake. Emails: as long as we need them to answer you, then they are deleted.

Adults only

The books are for readers aged 18 and over. The newsletter and reader team are not meant for anyone younger, and we do not knowingly collect their details.

Seeing, fixing or deleting your details

Complaints

Email us first and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner: oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992.
